Project Manager Apprenticeship

Overview

ILIOS – the joint venture between Kier and NUVIA formed as construction partner to the STEP Fusion Programme – is recruiting its first cohort for a STEP Fusion Apprenticeship in project management, leading to a Level 4 Associate Project Manager qualification based at West Burton. The programme offers an entry point into project delivery on one of the UK’s most technically and logistically complex infrastructure builds, with apprentices working directly alongside engineers, designers, contractors, and clients on a live fusion facility. Duration is typically 24 months, with a defined pathway to a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship subject to performance and business need. You do not need prior project management experience to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, monitoring, and reporting of engineering and construction projects
  • Coordinate with engineers, designers, contractors, and clients
  • Manage risks, actions, and project information
  • Apply and develop understanding of quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Build communication, organisation, and leadership capability aligned to the Level 4 Associate Project Manager apprenticeship standard

Requirements

Essential: GCSEs at Grade 5–9 (A*–C) in Maths, English, and Science; minimum 3 A-Levels at A*–C or equivalent; eligibility for security and medical clearance; interest in construction, engineering, or major infrastructure projects; good organisation and communication skills; positive attitude and willingness to learn; ability to work effectively as part of a team.
