Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Overview
Helion is scaling in-house capacitor production as it moves from its Polaris prototype toward its first commercial fusion power plant. This Senior Manufacturing Engineer will design and optimise rate-based assembly processes for the capacitor line, working across Supply Chain, Production, Engineering, and Test Operations to lift throughput. The role sits directly on the critical path to Helion’s commissioning timeline and is also tasked with laying groundwork for the company’s eventual transition to mass-manufacturing of generators. It reports to the Senior Manager of Capacitor Manufacturing at Helion’s Everett, WA site.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement rate-based assembly processes with support from Production and Engineering
- Own and manage interdisciplinary projects to increase rate and throughput of the capacitor line (floor layout, tooling, build cells, large-scale equipment)
- Develop new business processes such as non-conformance management, process control, process safety, and asset maintenance to build the foundation for high-volume production
- Gather data (labor hours, cycle times, fallout) to identify production bottlenecks, and propose and deploy solutions including design changes, process changes, equipment, and automation
- Identify high-ROI capabilities, including capital equipment and software, partnering with Production, Finance, Operations, and Facilities teams
- Collaborate on development of future processes while supporting and enabling higher output on the current production line
Requirements
Essential: 8+ years of technical work experience developing and improving production systems, hands-on engineering or manufacturing experience in rate-based and high-volume manufacturing, experience communicating with and influencing partners across organisational lines, and experience with cradle-to-grave ownership of complex engineering or production scopes.
